During the Great depression, it caused many families to face incredibly hard times. Due to the crash in the stock market it caused many men to lose their jobs, this making it hard for people to provide for their families. The lack of income caused many people to have to downsize their homes from comfortable houses to small cramped apartments or trailers.
Moreover, the lack of income also led to families not having enough money to feed their kids and themselves. This often times resulted in children and adults stealing from stores and other people just to be able to provide. Often times to try and avoid this people had to go and get relief money to help them get by. Also, when parents are having a really hard time it usually resulted in the kids being sent to live with relatives who are better off economically.
