World War I

 Source
This image shows dead French soldiers left on the ground in the Argonne.
This photo gives people a better understanding of WWI because it shows how cruel other countries were and how hard it was for people to be saved. They were being killed left and right and people might not have seen that especially in the US because there was no fighting going on here. It shows people how real the war was, and although we were sending troops out and fighting in it, it doesn't seem real until you see a dead soldier in front of you and until you experience it.

JFK

In this photo JFK is spending time with his wife and kids. They are relaxing outside. This shows that while JFK was in office, he was still a normal guy he had a family and a wife that he loved, and he must have loved his country just as much. He took the time to focus on his family, and he parallels that by spending the time to focus on his country. He was a good man, and was loyal. Losing him was a huge loss for this country. Also look at him he's beautiful.

U.S.S Maine

The USS Maine was sent to Cuba to protect interests during a time of local insurrections and civil disturbances.
3 weeks after being sent, the USS Maine was sunk in a massive explosion. This increased the desire for war because the US citizens took it as an attack from the Spanish on the US. And if someone was to attack of threaten the US people want a war, and for us to beat the attackers.

Tenements

A tenement is a run down apartment building. Usually, the residents of these buildings are factory workers, or immigrants who just came over and can't pay for a place of their own. They are crowded unsanitary and usually structurally unsafe.
This image displays perfectly what a tenement used to look like. It is run down, with shacks in the front yard. It looks like it is falling apart, and doesn't look safe for anyone to like in let a lone 20-40 people at a time.
I chose this image because it shows the poor quality of living these people have to suffer through. They should of had better choices.

Triangle Factory Fire

The Triangle Factory Fire is the tragic store of a typical sweat shop in New York City. On a spring day the 9th floor of the factory caught on fire. This left many people trapped, due to the doors locked by Mill owners to ensure nobody would steal. This left 146 of 500 employees to have to choose their fates; be burned to death or jump 9 stories to splat on the pavement. This story is a huge event in history because it shows how poor crammed working conditions can lead to workers getting hurt or dying.
The image that I chose shows a crammed factory floor room. There are many people stuffed together working at their small stations. The picture shows that there wasn't much space, or many windows and you can infer that it wasn't the most comfortable work environment.
I chose this picture because it perfectly displays the poor working situation that these employees had to suffer through. The work environment that lead to the deaths in the Triangle Factory Fire. The kind of working environment that factories should have avoided but didn't.

Red Sox

Original:The team makes so many sacrifices to get to this position. They give up time with friends, family, and time to do other things that they enjoy. The fans add so much to how well teams do. If you have supportive fans, they feed into the energy of players. If the fans are always there cheering and supporting the team, then the team will produce for their fans. They get a lot of money, and the owners get a lot of money. If they win the get sponsors, free trips, free stuff.
Rewrite: Professional athletes make a huge sacrifice when they choose to play a sport for a career. Although they make an incredible amount of money, some of the things that go along with it aren't so glamorous. They give up chances to do the other things in life that they enjoy including: spending time with family, friends, hobbies, and relaxing. They are constantly practicing, or on the road for games. Fans also play a huge role in the outcome that the team has. If fans are committed and dedicated to their sports team, it makes the athletes want to preform well for them. They form a relationship and a bond that cant be broken. Athletes, coaches, and franchise owners do make an incredible amount of money. If the team wins the world series, they get some many more awesome things other than just a huge paycheck. They get gifts, sponsors, vacations, parades, and many other incredible things.

Ellis Island Immigration

Immigration at the time was sometimes very challenging. Immigrants had to go through a series of tests, and based on how you do on those tests and how you do on the physical exam all are factors of whether or not you are allowed to stay in the US.
I chose this photo because it displays how the children that had to go through immigration. They seem lost and not as serious as parents. they didn't understand why it was such a big deal to family. They were to young to know what was really going on and how important it was to their parents.
This family is immigrating from Italy.

Present Day Child Labor

I chose this specific photograph to show what not all child labor is in awful sweltering hot factories. That the image in our head of child labor isn't always exactly how me picture it. Some children work, like this, alone with nobody around them. He is a young kid, and it is wrong for him to be working instead of being schooled. His conditions aren't as awful as those of say a Mill girl in Lowell. He is outside getting fresh air collecting flowers. So although child labor shouldn't be allowed anywhere, and all kids should have the opportunity at least this child laborer is outside getting fresh air.

Lewis Hine Photo

I chose this picture because I think it displays the feelings that kids that worked in the mills truly felt. This girl seems sad and upset, unhappy to be working such long hard shifts. She looks as if she is longing to be outside and be free from the harsh environment. She looks like she is longing to be able to be a kid again and as if she is longing to get out of the harsh mill girl lifestyle.

My Native American Name

My Indian name if I had one would be shining swan. I have reasons for choosing both names. First, I would choose shining because I love sunlight and warmth. I love warm sunny days and summer is my favorite season. Also, I try to keep a light mood and not be too serious.
Moreover, my other name that I chose would be swan. I chose swan because swans have long wingspans and necks and I have long limbs and am kind of lanky. Also, swans are considered to be swift, graceful and agile. When I am playing sports I am usually very agile and swift. I am never awkward, and neither are swans.

Native American Portraits

Source
My thoughts are that they had to do a lot of moving and traveling during the times of western expansion in America. It looks as though they had little material items that they could actually carry with them other than the clothes on their backs and what they could put on their horses. It looks like it was a depressing, sad and lonely time for the Natives of the land. They are people just like the English, yet the Englishmen can't see themselves as equal to the Indians, when they really were equal. They were moved and mistreated, it was hard for them to live the lives that they wanted.
